"Although I did expect to see more people in recovery while I was there, I still feel that my efforts really did contribute to the organization, even if it was primarily “behind the scenes” work. I was able to learn a lot about the recovery process and rehabilitation center business."

Who we are: The Oasis Recovery Center is a non-profit organization designed to help individuals and families recover from all addictions. In addition to the work of The Oasis, we now oversee the administration for CLEAR - The Coalition for Leadership, Education & Advocacy for Recovery. The coalition brings together individuals and organizations to combat addiction. Students can also benefit by attending CLEAR meetings and events.
Description: The Oasis Recovery Center offers services for individuals and families in the pre and post treatment phases of recovery from all addictions at the downtown location. Services include 24 hour helpline, interventions, treatment assessment assistance, insurance analysis and referrals for treatment, and post-rehabilitation services.
Duties of Intern: Duties include working with the staff and volunteers answering the addictions helpline, providing supportive services, assisting with administrative/clerical tasks and research. Please note: Given the nature of addiction, client contact fluctuates and is unpredictable. In order to observe interventions, etc. interns will need to be able to adapt their schedules in order to be available when client opportunities arise. If you will have very little flexibility in your schedule, your experience as an intern may end up as primarily consisting of inter-office tasks and project work.
